Both styles can be stunning. The right one depends on the design, your skin and how you live.
Black and grey Smooth shading and deep blacks. It is the classic choice for realism, religious pieces and portraits. It ages very well and holds up in the sun better than most colors.
Full color Saturated color makes a piece jump off the skin. Japanese dragons, flowers and anything with fire or energy shine in color. Color needs more sun protection to stay bright, especially in Florida.
Questions to ask yourself
- Is the subject something that looks best in a photo, or in a painting?
- Will the area get a lot of sun?
- Do you want it to match other tattoos you already have?
Not sure? Send your idea and Carlos will tell you what he would choose and why.
